A seventeen year old South Korean native born and raised in Hong Kong, I have had my fair share of cultural experiences. My parents, both avid travelers, brought me and my sister around the globe since we were very young. Due to this, I was exposed to a motley of different cultures, traditions and people. Although I disliked traveling as a child, my interest in traveling grew as my interest in different world cultures did. I believe that cultures are something unique to each country, and it is of great importance to experience and immerse yourself into other people's cultures. By educating one another on our own cultures, we can reduce the number of misunderstandings and promote experiencing a wide range of varying cultures.
This blog is an outlet for me to share my experiences abroad, as well as note all of the new facts about culture that I accumulated throughout my trips. In a way, it's a hybrid of both a travel blog and a culture blog. I am glad to be able to combine my different interests-language, culture and food- into a single, cohesive blog.
Other than being the writer of this blog, I am also a student, fencer, amateur journalist and self-proclaimed foodie. I am the captain of my school fencing team, writer for my school publication, and an avid member of my school's Human Rights Group, Operation Smile student led charity and Rumble Relief charity. English is my first language, although I also speak Korean and Chinese fluently, and am currently learning French.
In this "About Me" page, I would like to express my love and gratitude to my parents, who have worked tirelessly in order to provide me with these experiences and opportunities. Had it not been for them, I wouldn't have been able to meet as many people from different cultures and walks of life.
